Best Beach Wedding Locations in San Diego
Toes in the sand. Isn’t that the quintessential San Diego wedding? The one thing so many brides are hoping for?
A beautiful beach setting, with toes in the sand and a breathtaking sunset on the horizon as the vows are exchanged.
Sure, there are plenty of other gorgeous locations in San Diego to get hitched. And not all San Diego weddings are beach weddings. But a large enough chunk of them are, that it makes sense to talk about where the best beach weddings are held.
Cuvier Park
If you’re looking to get married on a beach in La Jolla, this is the spot. Known as “The Wedding Bowl” particularly because of how popular a location it is for marriage events, Cuvier Park offers up a somewhat private landscape by descending from street level. That descent actually comes with a stairway that allows for the bride to make a beautiful entrance as well. And located directly across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art, you have a great option for your reception location once your “I Do’s” have been uttered.
Sunset Cliffs
While this isn’t technically a beach location, it does offer stunning views of the coastline and is a gorgeous location for a smaller wedding. The nearby Inn at Sunset Cliffs can sleep up to 115 of your guests and offers catering and reception services as well.
Scripps Seaside Forum
Another La Jolla beach location, Scripps Forum is an oceanfront conference center that could serve as the perfect backdrop for both your ceremony and reception. They are already equipped to handle your beach wedding, with all the latest audio-visual technology at your disposal. Combining the benefits of an on-site indoor location with your toes-in-the-sand vision could be the perfect way to have the best of both worlds.
Ellen Browning Scripps Park
This is apparently the most photographed spot in San Diego, at least according to AAA magazine. And it makes perfect sense, because this La Jolla beach location is absolutely stunning. Of course, all that beauty is also the result of being relatively secluded and well maintained – which means that your guest list is limited to 50 in the summer and 80 the rest of the year. Permits also limit you to a time frame of 4 hours for your total event at this particular location.
Sea Grove Park
If you were hoping for a location that could highlight all the varied beauty San Diego has to offer, Sea Grove Park in Del Mar may be exactly what you are looking for. With grassy areas, pine tree views juxtaposed against the shoreline and redbrick pathways, this beach location even offers the occasional dolphin sighting just beyond the break.
And So Many More
Let’s be real – there is no shortage of beachfront property in San Diego. So perhaps you have another favorite spot you have long envisioned your wedding taking place at. The sky really is the limit, but it is important to know that only one wedding permit is issued per day for each beach, coastal park or cliff location. Which means that selecting your wedding spot as early as possible is key – in many cases, you need to get your permit at least one year in advance to make sure you have claimed your spot for your dream wedding.
