San Diego’s Best Rehearsal Dinner Locations vol. 3
Dine and Devote: Volume 3
The week leading up to your wedding is particularly stressful. People are flying into town from all over, vying for time spent with you. Details are coming together, but not as seamlessly as you would like. And there is always a crisis or two which needs to be handled, even as you are fighting to make nail appointments and final fittings on time.
The rehearsal dinner is one event you can look forward to though; a relaxed setting you typically don’t have to plan yourself, where you can just sit back and enjoy those you love before your big day.
So in continuation of our big Dine and Devote series, I wanted to introduce you to a few more rehearsal dinner options you might want to consider right here in Southern California.
Cucina Enoteca: Del Mar
Only open a few months now, this two-story, 9,000 sq. ft. restaurant and wine shop is incredible. Located in the heart of Del Mar’s Flower Hill Promenade, Cucina Enoteca features a second story open-air deck and Italian artisan beers you won’t be able to find anywhere else. The cuisine boasts of Executive Chef Joe Magnanelli’s Italian roots and hints at the organic freshness of California. The wine menu is also incredible, with floor to ceiling options to consider amidst the natural light which comes flooding through the downstairs dining area.

Stone Brewing, World Bistro and Gardens: Escondido and Liberty Station
Either of the Stone Brewing locations would be great for a rehearsal dinner that is more laid back and casual. If you aren’t looking for a high-end event, this may be your place. The beer options are, obviously, exceptional, and the décor is suited for large groups. The menu adheres to an artisanal, natural approach to food and they are proud to be the largest purchasers of small-farm organic produce in the San Diego area. Both locations have catering managers to help make your event special, and the comfortable setting may be just what you need to get into the wedding spirit!

Andrew Spurgin: Wherever You Want Him to Be
Dining out is always nice, but sometimes all you want is the comfort of home; especially as you aim to calm yourself prior to your big day. Plenty of couples opt to cater their rehearsal dinner at home, and Andrew Spurgin is a fantastic chef for just that. Not only can he help you to design the menu perfect for your event, but he also has the experience to ensure every morsel of food will be delectable. On top of that, he happens to be a bit of a local celebrity – with interviews and events on sustainability, cooking and culinary responsibility being featured nationwide.

Just Call Us Catering: At Your Beck and Call
Another incredible caterer to consider is Just Call Us Catering, helmed by Chef Julie Darling. Julie actually catered a family Thanksgiving for me years ago, and it was absolutely delicious. We had a long farm table with about 20 people in the backyard and it could not have worked out any better, but Julie is always up to more formal events as well. She also runs a pretty impressive non-profit, Just Call Us Volunteers, which strives to teach children about fresh vegetables and the science of gardening through hands-on instruction and guidance from professional chefs willing to volunteer their time.
